SLD was founded in 1996 by Pharma Industry Finland. Today, as part of Taloustutkimus Group of companies, it is a well established supplier of pharmaceutical market information in Finland and Sweden.
Here are some of SLD’s milestones:
| 2012 | April 2nd, SLD has been acquired by IMS Health, the leading provider of information, services and technology for the global healthcare industry and together we look forward to bringing you expanded and enhanced offerings. |
| 2011 | A commercial version of SLD Medula statistics software was launched in January. |
| 2010 | In May, SLD arranged seminars both in Finland and Sweden to show SLD Medula, a new and innovative statistics sofware where sales and price data can be integrated. |
| 2009 | The reference price system was introduced in Finland and it was immediately reflected into the price competition feature of SLD Pharma and SLD Price thus making it easier for the customers to follow the drastic market changes the new system caused. |
| 2007 | A huge step in the history of SLD took place at the beginning of 2007. A new product was introduced to a new market area: SLD Pharma Sweden. It was well received among the Swedish clientele and was quickly accepted as an established tool for pharmaceutical marketers. |
| 2005 | The first commercial version of SLD Field was released. This is a map based visual tool for sales representatives to be used in following actual sales against set targets. Also house calls can be added to analyze their efficiency. |
| 2004 | SLD entered into the market research business with a department of two employees. However, after a good start, this business was quickly merged into the parent company. SLD continued to focus in its core business. |
| 2003 | SLD Medi prescription and diagnosis database was released. Parallel import added as a new feature to SLD Pharma in January. A generic substitution feature added to SLD Price and SLD Pharma in May. SLD Price from once-a-month to twice-a-month delivery as of May. SLD Express was launched in June (an Excel format report on the Finnish pharmaceutical market published on the first working day of each month). |
| 2001 | The introduction of a new product SLD Nutrix (hospital sales data of clinical nutrition preparations) in April and a new price and reimbursement database, SLD Price, in May. A hormone and insulin computing feature added to SLD Pharma in June. A regional pharmacy sales database, OTCRegions, added as optional service to SLD OTC. Acquisition of the company by Taloustutkimus Oy took place in June. At this point, the company gave up the national Vnr-administration. |
| 2000 | A new version of SLD Pharma was released in June containing a regional hospital sales database SLD HORegions. As a novelty, SLD introduced a DDD-calculation feature facilitating the calculation of treatment days per sales package (i.e. consumption of drugs). |
| 1999 | Introduction of SLD Nordic statistics presenting market information about Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden by country or as total Nordic. A new version of SLD Pharma was released with a new database Healthcare Regions, a regional pharmacy sales database with competitor information to complement SLD Pharma. |
| 1998 | An agreement was signed between SLD and the National Agency for Medicines (NAM) concerning the national administration of the Nordic Vnr (product numbers) in January. SLD started as the national Vnr-administrator in June. |
| 1997 | SLD Pharma’s new version 2.0 was released in April. Version 2.1 was released in October together with a new product, SLD OTC and some new features for the SLD Online service. |
| 1996 | The company was founded by Pharma Industry Finland. The first commercial product – SLD Pharma 1.0 – was released in May. The first version of SLD Online service was released in August. Development work for a new version (2.0) of user interface program was started in the autumn. |
